Understanding the importance of SEO
July 26th, 2006
SEO, or Seach Engine Optimization is the methodology used by web design companies to help increase a website ranking in the search engines. There are certain key components required to do just that. If your site is missing those components, then good luck with it all….
The famous saying still holds true. You can have the best looking site on the planet, but if no one can find it, then what good is it?
SmartBreeze Web Design has helped quite a few companies get better rankings in the search engines. This includes #1 rankings for numerous keywords for each site. It’s not magic, it’s not black hat, it’s an ethical, repeatable approach to simply getting more traffic to your site.
A recent analysis completed by SmartBreeze showed that natural organic traffic (traffic from search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc) provided much higher quality traffic and far better results than when compared to PPC or other search marketing avenues. Simply put, you want your site in the search engines and on the first page, preferably in the first position.
So how does one go about doing that? Depending on your goals, it can be a full time effort that needs to be done consistently overtime and requires regular maintenance. This is due to the dynamic ever changing world of the search engines. But it isn’t impossible, even with the billions of sites that are out there already.
Ultimately the bottom line to SEO is good content, popular inbound links, and good design which includes an easily spiderable website. Spiders are the how search engines ‘read’ your website. If the spider can’t easily ‘read’ your site, then your chances of coming up in the rankings are virtually nil.
I can’t tell you how many sites I see on a daily basis, dont’ even have the basics of SEO going for them. Sure there site looks good, but they wonder why they can’t be found and aren’t getting traffic.
What’s usually required is some simple changes to your sites code, which can make a world of difference and pretty quickly too. For more information regarding SEO, please contact SmartBreeze, LLC.
