Domain Names
Domain names are the address of the website you are visiting. For most people, it's www.whatever.com. The whatever.com is the domain name. Now a domain name can end in .net, .org, .biz, .us, etc. It doesn't always have to be .com. Like SmartBreeze.net for example.
There are now BIlLIONS of sites that make up the internet. So finding a domain name is often times a challenge, because most of the time the domain name you want won't be available. But there are other options, try it with a different extension like .net or .org. Or you can try a domain name with a hyphen or two in the name like www.smart-breeze.net. I would avoid hyphens if I had a business where I spent a long time on the phone saying my domain name. It gets a bit annoying after a while to keep saying "smart - dash - breeze.net". And worse if you have 2 or 3 hyphens in your name. By the way, I wouldn't use more than 2 or 3 hyphens in your domain name. Some search engines might not like that too much.
Although not critical, it's a good idea to include the keyname in your domain name if possible. For example, if I had a sight about horses, I would want to inlcude the keyword horses in my domain name somehow. If you can great, if not, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Other tips when picking a domain name, choose one that is short and easy to remember, if possible.
Domain names can be purchased starting at about $8.95 per name. It's always a good idea to get web hosting at the same company you buy the domain name at. It's just easier that way. Some good places to buy domains names are Optimal Web Hosting, GoDaddy.com, etc. They'll let you know if your name is available. If not, they offer suggestions as well.
